As a result of customer feedback and to maintain a competitive edge, Saab has changed a great deal in the past few years and is taking on a whole new persona these days. The 2009 Saab 9-7x 4.2 liter I-6 engine offered a simple and efficient engine that is definitely not turbo-charged. The engine is actually a GM designed engine that was created for efficient power and fuel economy.
Offering the double overhead cam, the engine burned the fuel outside the actual working cylinders increasing the airflow in and out of the cylinders and increasing the performance and potential of this well built engine. The 4.2 liter I-6 engine also offers a number of features, each of them ultimately adding to an optimal performance:
* Bore/stroke ratio of 92.0 mm x 102.0 mm
* 285 Horsepower
* 10:3 Compression Ratio
* Variable valve timing/camshaft
As with all cars, the new one has grown up and a newer one has been born. The 2010 Saab 9-3x is a turbocharged improvement from the 2009 9-7x. There are two engine options that have been revealed thus far for the 2010 9-3x:
* 210 hp 2.0L Turbocharged Petrol Engine
* 280 hp 1.9L TTID Turbo diesel Engine
Each of these engines offers a great deal more performance out of the SUV as well as more capabilities in towing and overall drive, two qualities that the consumer finds attractive. The 2010 9.3x has actually been said to go from 0 to 60mph in 8.2 seconds; an enhancement from the former 2009 9-7x. The simplicity of the 4.2L I-6 engine is still a comfort for those that aren't looking for too much in the way of overall power.
