Chevrolet Cruze is Coming to America

Chevrolet Cruze is Coming to America
The Chevrolet Cruze is finally coming to America! The Cruze has been on sale around the world for a year now, but the United States launch has been delayed by transmission problems and a recall for fuel supply pipes. The Chevrolet Cruze is actually a Daewoo developed compact. There are an amazing number of trims and packages for the Cruze especially for the US market. The Cruze will also be offered in a Eco model 40 MPG freeway version powered by a turbocharged 1.4 liter engine.

Some modifications had to be made to the car to hit that MPG goal. A lower front grille air shutter that closes at higher speeds was used. It improves aerodynamics and opens at lower speeds to optimize engine cooling airflow. The upper grille has more closeouts to also improve aerodynamics. There is a lower front air dam extension along with extensive use of under body panels and a rear spoiler. These all enhance the car's aerodynamics. The ride height of the Cruze was lowered to also improve the car's aerodynamics to help reach a higher mileage per gallon. The car also features 17 inch lightweight aluminum wheels to lessen the car's overall weight. It also has ultra low rolling resistance Goodyear tires.

The Chevrolet Cruze will not be available until the fourth quarter of 2010 but that hasn't stopped people from wanting the car. It's no wonder people want a high mileage car that can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 10 seconds with a manual transmission, and 9 seconds with automatic.

The Cruze models that are not Eco will be LS, LT and LTZ which start with a base 1.8 liter engine. A Cruze review called it an old school engine that ruins the experience. The LT and LTZ models are powered by the 1.4 Turbo engine with a small horsepower upgrade but a much better torque rating.

There is an RS appearance package for the LT and LTZ trim levels which bring unique fascias, rocker moldings, rear spoiler and fog lamps. The package also comes with an up level instrument cluster, chrome accent rings and opaque cluster bezels that allow the ice blue back-lighting to shine through making a sporty night appearance.

The Chevy Cruze is currently looking for be a far better car than the Cobalt it replaces. The 40 MPG Eco version could become GM's first competitive green car. The questions though are will consumers think of Chevrolet when they think of small green cars?

The Goddess Citroen DS

The Goddess Citroen DS
Designed by Bertoni and launched in 1955, the Citroen DS (or "Goddess") sold nearly 1.5 million units during its 20 years of production. A design classic the DS was packed with innovations and safety features that took decades to appear on other cars - indeed some have never been rivaled to this day!

The DS advanced all achievable standards in terms of ride quality, road-holding, handling, and braking. With the exception of air bags and side impact bars, there have been few improvements in vehicle safety design since.

After 18 years of development in secret, the DS 19 was introduced on October 5, 1955 at the Paris Motor Show. The car's appearance and innovative engineering captured the imagination of the public and 743 orders were taken in the first 15 minutes of the show, First day orders totaled 12,000!

Throughout its model lifetime, the DS remained ahead of its time. It's most remarkable innovation being the oleo-pneumatic (oil-air) pressure circuit that operated the steering, semi-automatic gearbox, brakes and suspension, which - pumped up by two powerful "accumulators" - provided automatic ride-height adjustment while giving the car a floating, luxurious ride.

The suspension was also driver-adjustable so that, in the event of a flat tire, the driver could raise the car to its highest setting, prop the corner, lower the car and remove the wheel, all without a jack. Other innovations included road-following head lamps, fiberglass roof and boot panel, removable body panels and a charming single-spoke steering wheel which allowed clear view of the instruments and collapsed with impact in an accident. It was also the first production car to sport front disc brakes.

The DS was voted fifth on Automobile Magazine "100 Coolest Cars" listing in 2005 and third in the 1999 Car of the Century competition, recognizing the world's most influential auto designs. If you want to know which cars took second and first place then keep your eyes on KOCMO's Classic Cars

President Charles de Gaulle praised the unusual abilities of his unarmored DS with saving his life during the assassination attempt at Petit-Clamart on August 22, 1962 - the shots had blown two of the tires, but due to the self-leveling suspension the car was still able to escape at full speed.

2010 Saab 9-5

2010 Saab 9-5
The Saab 9-5 design is over a decade old, but there are many changes on the horizon, especially for the power plant of the 2010 Saab 9-5. Under the new ownership of GM, Saab will be offering multiple engine options for the newest Saab 9-5. All of these new engines have been redesigned under the supervision of GM.

The smallest and most efficient engine option for the 2010 Saab 9-5 is the 1.6-lite turbocharged gasoline engine, which is capable of 180 horsepower. In fact, every engine being offered by Saab on the 2010 9-5 comes equipped with a turbocharged from the factory.

A step up in power from the 1.6-liter is the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, capable of 220 horsepower. There is also a second engine option for the standard 2.0-liter gasoline engine, and that is the E85 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo diesel, which puts out 160 horsepower, and can run on both conventional diesel and bio-diesel fuel.

However, the most powerful engine offered on the 2010 Saab 9-5 is the 2.8-liter turbocharged V6. The 2.8-liter V6 engine will top all the other engines in the Saab line, producing over 300 horsepower. There are also rumors that GM will offer a supercharged version of their 3.6-liter V6 which will offer over 350 horsepower, which will make the 2010 Saab 9-5 the most powerful sedan offered by Saab. However, this amount of power would be too much for a front wheel drive transmission, and would probably be featured on an all-wheel-drive platform.

All of the 2010 Saab models will come equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission with a manual shift override system. It is likely that only the European market will receive a true 6-speed manual transmission on the 2010 Saab 9-5, but it could be offered on the American market as well.

New and Improved 2010 Saab 9-3x

New and Improved 2010 Saab 9-3x
As a result of customer feedback and to maintain a competitive edge, Saab has changed a great deal in the past few years and is taking on a whole new persona these days. The 2009 Saab 9-7x 4.2 liter I-6 engine offered a simple and efficient engine that is definitely not turbo-charged. The engine is actually a GM designed engine that was created for efficient power and fuel economy.

Offering the double overhead cam, the engine burned the fuel outside the actual working cylinders increasing the airflow in and out of the cylinders and increasing the performance and potential of this well built engine. The 4.2 liter I-6 engine also offers a number of features, each of them ultimately adding to an optimal performance:

* Bore/stroke ratio of 92.0 mm x 102.0 mm
* 285 Horsepower
* 10:3 Compression Ratio
* Variable valve timing/camshaft

As with all cars, the new one has grown up and a newer one has been born. The 2010 Saab 9-3x is a turbocharged improvement from the 2009 9-7x. There are two engine options that have been revealed thus far for the 2010 9-3x:

* 210 hp 2.0L Turbocharged Petrol Engine
* 280 hp 1.9L TTID Turbo diesel Engine

Each of these engines offers a great deal more performance out of the SUV as well as more capabilities in towing and overall drive, two qualities that the consumer finds attractive. The 2010 9.3x has actually been said to go from 0 to 60mph in 8.2 seconds; an enhancement from the former 2009 9-7x. The simplicity of the 4.2L I-6 engine is still a comfort for those that aren't looking for too much in the way of overall power.

The 1.4L, 1386cc petrol engine with MPFI fuel injection system and five speed manual transmission gearbox might give around 12.6kmpl in the city and 17.5kmpl on highway. The variant with an automatic transmission gearbox offers 11.5kmpl in the city and 16.5kmpl on highways. Whereas, 1.5L, 1461cc CRDI (Common Rail Direct Injection) diesel engine with five speed manual transmission gearbox offers abut 16.2kmpl in city and 20.7kmpl mileage on highway.

Nissan Micra has been designed keeping India in mind. The car has stylish looks, headlamps and fog lamps next to its front grille. Body colored bumpers, body-colored door mirrors, alloy wheels, silver finish door handles, tinted front headlamp covers et al are some of the design elements of the car that make it look good. Features like power windows, power steering, leather covered gear knob, leather upholstery, digital clock, tachometer, front and rear door pockets, front and rear cup holders provide that much needed comfort to the car.

With all of the above packed in the compact car the Nissan Micra is all set to set a new benchmark for hatchback makers in the Indian market.

The History of Hyundai

The History of Hyundai
Hyundai is a Korean automaker with its first car introduced into the American marketplace in 1986. The product line for Hyundai has improved considerably throughout the years. Hyundai cars provide a high level of dependability due to being backed by one of the industry's best warranties. Not only are Hyundai cars affordable and reliable, they make up one of the largest companies in the world.

Hyundai Motor Company was founded by Ju-Yung Chung and his younger brother Se-Yung Chung in December 1967.The first Hyundai business's duty was building automobiles while the second Hyundai Company concentrated on construction.

Most of South Korea's modern infrastructure is thanks in part to Hyundai in the period after the cessation of the Korean War in 1953 and on through the 1970s. Many different things were built by Hyundai Civil Industries including dams, a shipbuilding yard, an expressway, and a nuclear power plant.

Hyundai conquered the Korean market and quickly became a chief player on the international scene. By the 1970s Hyundai began to build vessels as well as shipyards and by 1986 Hyundai produced its first vehicle made entirely from Korean components. From the 1980s onward Hyundai added further specialties like the building of magnetic levitation trains and semiconductor.

Hyundai vehicles and Hyundai parts today are made with quality and care. The quality, performance and overall desirability of Hyundai cars have rapidly increased. Though Hyundai's product lineup is smaller than those of most other manufacturers, it gains economies of scale through Kia, another Korean auto brand, which it purchased in 1998. Now a day, Hyundai is known for producing vehicles that offer huge value at low prices.

2010 Scion tC 2.4 Liter Engine

2010 Scion tC 2.4 Liter Engine
As in previous years, Scion's sporty tC coupe offers only one engine for 2010: Toyota's 2.4-liter 2AZ-FE engine, shared with the Toyota Corolla XRS, Matrix XRS, and Scion xB.

The 2AZ-FE is unchanged for 2010. As before, it is a 16-valve inline four with an aluminum block and head, cast-iron cylinder liners, and chain-driven dual overhead camshafts, with Toyota's VVT-i variable valve timing on the intake cam. It has a total displacement of 2,362 cc, with twin counter-rotating balance shafts for smoothness. In the tC, it is rated at 161 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque.

Despite the tC's sporty mission, torque is the 2AZ-FE's real raison d'être -- no surprise, since versions of this engine have also been used in the four-cylinder Camry, Highlander, and RAV4, as well as Japanese- and European-market Toyota minivans. Many smaller engines can match the 2AZ-FE's 161 horsepower, but not its mid-range muscle. With twin balance shafts, the 2AZ-FE is also very smooth for a big four-cylinder engine. The penalty is fuel economy; the tC's EPA combined rating is only 23 mpg with manual transmission, 24 mpg with automatic. That is slightly worse than Honda's 197-hp Civic Si coupe, although unlike the Civic Si, the tC does not require premium fuel.

In past years, Toyota Racing Development (TRD) offered a dealer-installed supercharger kit for the tC, boosting it to around 200 horsepower, but TRD's catalog does not list kits for 2009 or 2010 models. That may be because Toyota is phasing out the 2AZ-FE in favor of the 2.5-liter 2AR-FE engine, currently used in the RAV4 and Camry.

The current tC dates back to 2004, and there are rumors that Toyota will replace it in 2011 with a new rear-drive coupe, powered by a Subaru-designed 2.0-liter flat four with about 200 horsepower.
